This letter to the Ed appeared recently in our local rag, The
Virginian Pile-It:

High cost of ethanol

Since they started adding ethanol to gasoline, fuel economy has
dropped in all three of my automobiles by about 15 percent.
Ironically, this is about the amount of ethanol in the gasoline. Fuel
prices are at about the same level, so actual fuel consumption is up,
as well as the amount leaving my pocket. Items made from corn have
also gone up. The American consumer is getting ripped off and many do
not even know it.
