Hello,
So, September is approaching fast and my daughter goes to preschool (she is
4) and for me this means one of the following:
1) Miata goes, an old civic comes back (yuck!), or
2) I put the car seat in Miata's front seat.
I've turned off the passenger airbag, and know how to make the seatbelt lock
(according to owner's manual); my 2000 miata does not have a tether system
to hook up the carseat to, so it is only the seatbelts. Anyone care to share
their experiences, good or bad? I am also interested to know whether you
were pulled over by police and whether you were harassed because of having
your kid in front seat, with airbag off.
cheers,
Masoud

It's legal in a 2 seat car for a properly installed carseat to be in the front seat so the cops should have nothing to say about it.
J.R. started riding in the front seat of his mother's Miata at 6 weeks in a properly installed carseat.
We got a seatbelt clamp to make sure the belt was really locked tight and we used a seat that the child restraint was actually separate from the seat restraint and all was fine.
