I have one. Works great. And it's cheap. But two
quick questions. When you use the clamps, the
negative clamp should go to the chassis
(negative-grounded car).

However, when using the battery terminal rings, both
connections go to the battery. What's the difference?
Greater chance of a spark with both clamps on the
battery? I know next to nothing about automotive
electonics.

Also, has anyone used the cigarette lighter plug?
Wonder if it's any more or less efficient than
connecting directly to the battery terminals.

Your supposed to jump a car by hooking up the positive lead to the battery
and then the negative lead to the chassis so if it were to spark it's not
right at the battery where there might in theory be explosive gases. With
the rings they are permanently attached so your not going to have any
sparking at the battery.

As for the cigarette lighter plug, 2 things. First with a Miata you have to
turn the key to on to use it since the cigarette lighter isn't on with the
ignition off. Second you probably are going to lose some power through the
wiring to the battery. I would only use it as the last choice.
