The old standard question would be what plug wires are you using and how old
are they??
The next point is if it is RPM related it could be alternator noise too.
Miatas are not known for this problem so I would start with plug wires.

Can't go wrong with the stock NGK wires.

If the problem went away when you first installed the new AM antenna, I would
check for a grounding problem with the antenna, first, i.e., makes sure
there's metal-to-metal contact underneath and that it's tightened down. Also check
the grounding of the radio and chasis (try moving it to a new location or
adding an additional ground wire from the radio chasis to the frame). The next
culprit to check/replace would be the plugs (and more importantly new plug
wires), which typically cause this problem. Finally, there are in-line filters
which you can buy at an electronics store which you wire into the power lead
going to the radio. My experience with these filters, however, is that they
reduce, but do not totally eliminate the noise, depending on how bad it is.
On one super-charged, water-injected Pinto I worked on in the 70s (that's
right, a Pino...real sleeper), he was running solid core spark plug wires, and I
finally had to wire the radio directly to the battery to eliminate the
problem.
Good luck.

I can't believe that you are the one that got the "com" call letters. HAHA.
To bad that the 3 letters in "com" doesn't match the existing format. Sad
when a good joke goes bad.
