There is talk (I guess I started it) of a drive Saturday leaving GJ 9 or 10am and heading to Gateway. For me the main reason to do this is the GREAT road and spectacular scenery, but at Gateway lunch is available, as is a pretty decent car museum. Shortly after Gateway there are choices as where to go. One is to head across the desert to Moab, and then work back to GJ, via I70. I have not done the drive from Vancorum to Moab via SR 90 (CO) and SR46 (Utah), and I think it is about time to take if off my bucket list. But also from Vancorum one could head more south and east and go thru Placervill, cross Dallas Divide to Ridgeway and head back toward GJ on US 550 and 50 thru Montrose and Delta. At Placerville a bit of an excursion could be taken to Telluride. The San Juans are beautiful. Another sub-option could be to pick up CO 66 near Delta and go over the Grand Mesa and back to GJ.

If anyone was wanting to head back towards Denver from this drive a nice way from Delta to go to Paonia, over McClure Pass to Redstone, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and pikc up I70.

This is not going to be very orginized, but everyone is welcome to join. I suspect it will splinter into different groups after we get going for those who are interested in different (cough, cough) paces and different routes. Final starting point can be determined as late as Sat morning. If anyone needs more info, or where we are meeting up Sat, (or a suggestion of where to meet Sat) you can call me at 970-379-8821.

Les
