About a year ...
Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk
Really, not much. Same motor, same electronics, same interior and exterior.
Same option packages with the same equipment in them.
The only differences are the Special Editions. In '92 the SE was Yellow
available only in the base model. In '93 the SE was actually a LE (leather
edition) that was black and red with all the goodies. There was just a post
about the '93 LE earlier today talking about what all it came with.

As has been pointed out, the most important difference is that the '93 has a
toilet seat on the nose:)

So why wouldn't 93 be the "last year Mazda offered the Miata"? I can
understand why the differences in 93 and 94 would make some people not want
a 94 but why would that same person not want a 93???

As has been pointed out, (and I left out ... ) the toilet seat emblem on the
nose. No thank you for me, the fewer badges the happier I am. I had the
front bumper cover replaced a few years ago after an accident. I actually
specified that the cover *not* have the Mazda sticker put back on.
They never did give me the sticker though...

I think Mazda did more than put a emblem on the nose, they tried to make
the car more comfortable to drive, to apeal to more people. They softened
the sway bars and toned down the exhaust, I heard also that it was a bit
heavier? Not sure about that one though.

This is slightly incorrect. The yellow is not an SE...just was only
availble as an A package....which is not a Base. Some options
were installed, such as VLSD. We enthusiasts treat it
like an SE, but there was nothing special about it with
respect to SE/LE Mazda production cars, which
are all pretty much loaded with the exception of the STO.
The Miata guide linked from the miata.net page discusses the
subtle differences between model years....but this change is
very minimal: color choices, the new logo, and '92s had
MAZDA in the allow centercaps, OTTOMH.
92 does have the best color though :)

I have a '93 and didn't like the toilet seat either. When it came time to
repaint the nose, I had the toilet seat removed. IMHO, it looks much better
now. :-)

The toilet seat logo on the nose and (if you have an 'A' package or higher)
on the alloy center caps.

I have not tried yet, but is there any tried and true method for getting the
mazda sticker off the front bumper without damaging the paint? I still got
mine and am not all that fond of it.

I have not tried yet, but is there any tried and true method for getting the
mazda sticker off the front bumper without damaging the paint? I still got
mine and am not all that fond of it.

A hair dryer, Goof-Off, polish and wax, a few rags, some elbow grease and a
little patience.
Heat up the sticker until the glue turns soft, peel up an edge and peel back
the sticker at a 45 degree angle. Use the Goof Off and elbow grease to
remove the remaining adhesive on the bumper. Polish and wax the area
surrounding the location of the sticker to even the finish and color of the
paint (it will be like new under the sticker but worn/faded around it).

Rather than the Goof-Off, which has a better chance of damaging the paint,
I'd go with WD-40 to remove the adhesive residue, it works faster, requires
less elbow grease, and won't hurt the paint or plastic.

Try warming it with a hair dryer, then carefully pealing it with you finger
nail. That is what I did.
