After driving, when I stop, I smell gasoline. The smell is rather strong. I'm in the process of tracking this down. This is a 2000 SE. Anyone else have this problem ? Any tips ?

I have a 2000 and have had the same gas smell problem. I took it to the dealership and they indicated that the system was working properly when the temperature was hot and it would get better when it cooled down. Not being satisfied, I contacted Mazda corporate and they stated that they reviewed the dealerships conclusion and had nothing to add. This is disappointing, however, I love the little car and continue to mutter words of disappointment when I get the smell. I only have 57K on the car, will keep the car and continue to research a resolution to the problem.
It was recommended that I replace charcoal canister etc. by private repair shops but comments from others state "save your money" There are enough of us in this predicament and should identify how we as club members make a unified inquiry of Mazda Corporate.
Let me know when you find the holy grail of insight.
Thanks
Eugene

I agree it is hard to believe Mazda has not resolved this issue. I thought it was an issue in the older models, but it still continues. MY 92 only has 10,000 miles.
Do you think it could fall under a hazardous recall?
