I have #373 of the same edition. I have over 200,000 miles on her. Often wish I could buy another just like it. Where are you located? I see NJ plates on the car.

I am located in Missouri and those are Missouri plates on the car. I guess they must be similar to NJ plates. It's a great car and this is my favorite time of year to be out driving it, along with those warm days in spring. I keep it garaged in winter and park it in the shade during hot weather.

Yes this is my summer car but as I said the 200+k miles are adding up. I have rear axle noise that will need to be addressed soon but I can't really tell what bearings are bad. I fear going to a dealer by now. Thery will want to fix everything.

That's a long way - about 1200 miles & 16 hour drive.
Columbus, Ohio is halfway between us. If you are serious about buying the car, I could meet you there. Or, if you wanted to fly in to Kansas City, Missouri, I could pick you up at the airport (MCI-about 90 miles away). Then you would have a chance to actually test drive the car before buying, and if you did buy, have a great road trip back home, and if you decided not to buy, you could fly back. Either way, the Miata would still have less than 50,000 miles on it when you got back home.

I am serious to the point that half wishes I had not seen this and the other half is on the way to the airport....... St Louis is 184 airfare and KC is 4 something. There would be two of us. In any case this is not a thing for this week. Need to sleep on it. Why are the VIN numbers so different? My car is now posted. Sorry we have had rain so she is not clean today. In fact she is over due for detailing.

Have you had to clean the headlights?

I understand. Don't understand your question about the VIN numbers, unless you are comparing my VIN to yours, in which case I don't know. I can say that this is the correct VIN for my car and all numbers on the car match. I have the complete CarFax history - no wrecks or anything negative or questionable. Has been well cared for, garaged in winter since arriving in Missouri after spending years in Florida, and only driven about 4k miles per year. Except for new tires just a couple of months ago, absolutely all original.

No problem on the time. I am really in no rush to sell and haven't advertised it anywhere except here. Wouldn't mind keeping it for years. Oh, headlight covers are excellent and do not need cleaning yet. I did have to clean the headlights on my Chrysler 300M, but afterwards, they were almost like new.

Hi guys,

Don, check your VIN again. Build #373 is VIN JM1NB353010210913.

The Build # on the SE key fob is usually wrong. The gift sets were sent out sometime after the car delivery, and it appears they mostly bear no relation to the actual Production Number.

We had a discussion about it a while ago in the SE thread (began here: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=447079&page=3 ).

For your actual Build #, find your VIN on this list: http://www.mx5world.com/article/2001-miata-special-edition-vins.html . The Prod # is your Build #.

When you find it, let me know what your Build # is and I'll correct it on the Registry Map.

Well, I wasn't really trying to sell it, just had it listed on here since it was free and I could use the money, but they remove it automatically after some certain period of time. Just happens that I relisted it for sale earlier today and lowered the price, plus I just rebuilt the calipers and had them powder-coated yellow, put new Raybestos high performance brake rotors and ceramic pads on all four wheels. It still has less than 50K on it and didn't need any of that, but I just wanted to do it. Looks very sharp. I'll post some photos after I wash & wax it.

Ran across this in the recent email from the forum and just sent you an email inquiring about the brakes. I have a 2001 SE as well. It's only got 18,163 miles as of storing it over last winter.
